Tim's Top 50: Best of the College Years - Rock/Pop Edition

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but now that we're all quasi-homebound due to the Coronavirus madness, it's given me some time to come up with some new material for my blog.  I'm going to restart things with my list of the top 50 songs from my college years.  We'll start with the rock/pop selections and then maybe pivot to country or other genres in the coming days and weeks.

The rules: To qualify for this list, the song has to have been released between 1992 and 1996.  While some of these may technically have been released BEFORE I started college or AFTER I finished college, it was easier to just focus on 1992-1996 than to split hairs on specific dates within those years.  The only negative of the 1992 cutoff on the front end is that it eliminates some early grunge gems like Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Pearl Jam's "Alive" and Soundgarden's "Outshined," all of which were released in 1991.  But since those were unequivocally released prior to I went to college, they are excluded from the list.

Longtime readers of this blog know that I've done many music-related lists before, but I have to say this one was the most difficult yet.  There were so many great songs released during the time period that I was very difficult to come up with just the top 50.  Be forewarned that there will be a lot of grunge and alternative rock because, we ARE talking about the '90s after all.  Having said that, here we go...
